Community
Services Division identifies services needed for families, develops
resources for families and creates partnerships to implement those services.
The Community Services Division also provides technical assistance and capacity
building opportunities to organizations and families in Ward 7 to help
them to become self-sufficient.
Community
Engagement
Community engagement is essential to effectively building the capacity community groups to address family issues and
create family
support networks in their respective neighborhood. It is the hub of
information referrals, making varius resources available to the community.
Fatherhood
Initiative
Provides training and supportive services to help fathers develop
and sustain positive relationships with their children and families.
Mini-grants
Awarded to eligible community-based organizations to
implement ideas that: help expose youth to services; help reduce the
feeling of abandonment and alienation experienced by youth due to trauma
caused by losses; keep families together and reduce out-of home placements
to greatest degree possible; expand community support to at-risk youth;
and help youth of Ward 7 develop and improve leadership skills so that
problems are solved by and within the neighborhood.
Capacity
Building and Technical Assistance
Provided to families through the Financial Literacy Program, Success
Families Initiative, and mini-grants. ERFSC also provides technical
assistance to small organizations to assist them in becoming
self-sufficient.
Financial
Literacy
Teaches the basic principles of sound financial management to Ward 7
residents. The program is based on the FDIC "Money
Smart!" model.
